Halfmoon Returns
This is an image of the Halfmoon, Henry Hudson's ship, with the city of Albany in the background.
The old and the new in this image.....gives it a special interest. I painted this image plein air on the banks of the Hudson on the Troy side. I was prepared for a magnificent composition...what I was unprepared for was the cannon shot from the Halfmoon.
As it came into the Harbor, the city fired off its water cannon and the halfmoon fired its cannon. The sound reverberated off the buildings. It was loud! Some how, I nervier thought of Henry Hudson's ship, built for exploration, would also house a number of cannon.
